Week of July 17

Swim/Dive Meet vs. OHAC

The distance meets are always long ones, and after 2+ hours of racing, we tied OHAC 378-378! Check out the results. Like us on Facebook to see more pictures from the meet.

Parents, thank you so much for your hard work during these 3 weeks of home meets! We so appreciate your efforts and the fun you bring to all of the kids by running the meet.

Make sure you check the Ribbon Bin regularly to pick up any ribbons you may have won.

Monday, July 17: Swim-A-Cross

During your regular swim/dive practice

We are trying again. We will have the Swim-A-Cross tomorrow to raise money for the American Red Cross after getting rained out last Monday. The Red Cross will bring extra pledge forms or you can fundraise on Crowdrise (follow the directions to create your individual fundraising page). Your swimmer gets a T-shirt if they raise $50, a Red Cross tote if they raise $150, and a Red Cross jacket if they raise $1,000. The Red Cross also brings food and other goodies!

During their regular swim or dive practice, the kids will swim as many laps or dive as many dives as they can even if they didn’t fundraise. If you did get pledges, don’t forget to bring in your pledge form. If you used Crowdrise to fundraise, it probably wouldn’t hurt to print out your pledge list. You can also continue to raise money for the Red Cross after the event.

Wacky Wednesday: Tie-Dye Day

  • Each team member can bring 2 cotton items to dye (e.g. pillow case, socks, t-shirt, scarf).
  • We will be dying at the picnic tables. It is very important that team members come before practice to rubber band their items since the cloth needs to soak in soda ash for at least 30 minutes before it can be dyed.
    • A Group will rubber band at 8:45 & dye at 10:30
    • B Group will rubber band at 10:00 before practice & dye at 11:30
    • Chippers will rubber band at 11:00 before practice & dye at 12:00
    • Divers will rubber band at 9:30 before practice & dye at 12:00
  • If you want to rubber band your creations at home, please remember to write your name on a visible location.

***PLEASE NOTE: IF WE DO NOT GET ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS TO HELP RUN TIE DYE, IT WILL BE CANCELLED.*** To sign up, please go to SignUp Genius.

Week of July 19

Welcome to the First Week of Swim & Dive Team!

Every week during the season, we will send out a newsletter with information about the activities for that week. This year, we are hosting three out of the five swim meets at Chippewa, and will need every family with a swimmer participating in the meet to help us run those meets. The jobs are easy and fun, and training will be provided when necessary. Swimmers and divers, look for the meet sign-up by the swim desk. Parents, we will use SignUp Genius for parent volunteers.

We need everyone on the team to fill out the registration form as soon as possible. The most important part of the form is your swimmers’ T-shirt size because shirts will be ordered by mid-week. If we don’t have your size, you can’t get a shirt.

If you would like to opt out of receiving the weekly newsletter, you can let us know by responding to this email. Please forward these emails if more family members would also like this information.
